In the given text, it is mentioned that remote end infeed causes problems in distance relay measurement, especially under high resistance earth fault conditions. While a distance relay set to an ideal operating region can handle the fault resistance at a specific load condition, any changes in the load condition can affect the operating region. Consequently, the distance relay may either overreach or underreach when there are variations in the load. One of the main factors that influence the ideal digital distance relay operating region is the ability to adapt to these changes without relying on communication links from the remote end of the line or the system control center. To explore this approach, numerous computer simulations have been conducted on realistic system configurations. The results indicate a high potential for the development of an intelligent digital distance relay.
