use TV and harmonic method to Inpainting

详 情 说 明

TV (Total Variation) and harmonic inpainting are two powerful variational methods used for reconstructing missing or damaged regions in images. These techniques rely on solving partial differential equations (PDEs) to recover missing data while preserving important structural features.

TV inpainting minimizes the total variation of the image, effectively preserving sharp edges and discontinuities. It works particularly well for piecewise-constant images by enforcing sparsity in the gradient domain. The method is robust against noise but can sometimes introduce staircasing artifacts in smooth regions.

Harmonic inpainting, on the other hand, minimizes the Dirichlet energy, leading to smoother reconstructions by diffusing information from the known regions into the missing areas. While this method excels in smoothly varying textures, it tends to blur edges and strong discontinuities.

A hybrid approach can be employed where TV inpainting is used for edge preservation and harmonic inpainting for smoother regions, combining the strengths of both methods. These techniques are widely applied in image restoration, medical imaging, and digital art conservation.
